Our client, a publically traded automotive manufacturer, is looking for an Accounting Manager

 

Summary:

Manages and coordinates activities and operations of accounting department and staff, including general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and treasury accounting.

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and monitors systems for general accounting.
  • Reviews and analyzes the organization's accounting operation; establishes, develops, and/or recommends accounting policies to management.
  • Prepares and analyzes financial and operational reports; prepares reports required by regulatory agencies, banks, investors, and other external parties.
  • Manages monthly accounting close cycle; reviews journal entries and monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Reviews and analyzes complex financial information and transactions.
  • Participates in implementation and testing of financial systems.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and manages overall general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable systems.
  • Assists in preparation of financial presentations for senior management and Board of Directors presentations.
  • Reviews, updates and ensures adherence to accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley controls for Spartan Chassis.
  • Manages accounting and tax return for the Spartan Chassis Foundation.
  • Coordinates year-end audits for business unit.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops general accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable staff; manages schedules and workflow.
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies, accounting controls and government regulations.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in accounting or finance or equivalent.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, cost accounting and financial reporting.
  • Eight or more years related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate subordinates.
  • Proficient on ERP systems and MS Office
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and work flow.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
